HOLIDAY TIPS FOR HAPPY HORMONES

Holiday Tips for Happy Hormones

The holidays are such a special time—filled with connection, celebration, and joy. But they can also bring a lot of busyness, stress, and changes to our routines. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed or like we’re “off track” when life gets a little less structured. This year, let’s release the pressure to do things perfectly and focus on small, supportive habits that can help you feel grounded and balanced. Taking care of your hormones during the holidays doesn’t mean restriction or overthinking—it’s about simple, nourishing steps that honor your body and help you enjoy this amazing season to the fullest!

Here are my go-to tips for happy hormones this holiday season:

1. Gratitude Journaling

The holidays can be hectic, but starting your day with gratitude helps set a calm and intentional tone. Grab a journal or even the notes app on your phone and jot down three things you’re grateful for. These can be big or small—your morning cup of coffee, the laughter of loved ones, or simply the fact that you have a cozy blanket to wrap yourself in. Practicing gratitude has been shown to reduce stress and boost emotional resilience, making it the perfect holiday ritual.

My favorite gratitude journal is the Five Minute Journal by Intelligent Change: here

2. Herbs & Spices

The holiday season is full of delicious food, and adding hormone-supportive herbs and spices is such an easy way to give your body a little extra love. For example:

  • Sprinkle cinnamon on your oatmeal, coffee, or roasted veggies to help stabilize blood sugar.

  • Add turmeric to soups or a warm golden milk latte for its anti-inflammatory benefits.

  • Infuse holiday dishes with rosemary and thyme for added antioxidants. These flavorful additions are not only festive but also pack powerful health benefits.

3. Post-Prandial Walks

Walking after meals is one of my favorite ways to ease digestion and support blood sugar. It doesn’t have to be anything intense—think of it as a peaceful way to move your body and connect with the world around you. After a big holiday dinner, invite your family for a stroll around the neighborhood or walk to see the holiday lights. Even a quick 10-minute walk indoors can make a difference if the weather isn’t cooperating.

4. Balanced Plates

When building your holiday plate, think about including a mix of carbs, protein, and fats to keep your energy steady and your hormones happy. For example:

  • Add a serving of turkey or roasted salmon for protein.

  • Enjoy roasted sweet potatoes, wild rice, or stuffing for healthy carbs.

  • Drizzle olive oil over roasted veggies or add avocado to your plate for fats. Remember, balanced doesn’t mean rigid or “perfect”—it’s about enjoying the foods you love while giving your body the nourishment it needs.

5. Enjoy the Moment

Food is such a beautiful part of the holidays, but it’s only one piece of the experience. Take time to savor the laughter, the conversations, and the traditions that bring you joy. Let go of any pressure to eat a certain way or “make up” for holiday meals. Instead, focus on the love and connection around you—those are the things that truly nourish us.

6. Save Sweets for Last

If you’re indulging in dessert (hello, pumpkin pie!), enjoy it after a balanced meal rather than on an empty stomach. This small tweak can help reduce blood sugar spikes and keep you feeling more balanced overall. And don’t forget to savor each bite—holiday treats are meant to be enjoyed!

The holidays don’t have to be a time of “all or nothing” when it comes to your health and well-being. By leaning into these simple, supportive habits, you can enjoy all the magic of the season while honoring your body’s needs.

I’m so incredibly grateful for this community and hope you have the most joyful, peaceful holiday season. Wishing you all a nourishing & happy holiday!
